Sow half hardy annual seeds

Some tender plants, such as pelargoniums and begonias, need a long growing season, so it’s good to start them off from seed early in the year like in February. Check the back of the seed packet and sow when recommended as others can be left as late as April or even May.

Gardener’s tip: mix fine seed, such as nicotiana, with dry silver sand. The seeds stick to the bigger grain sized sand so it is easier to spread out when sowing and doesn’t all land in one clump.
